Spencer County Recycling/Parks Center

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Applicants must be able to safely operate all material handling equipment including forklifts and pallet movers
  • Support the materials handling process for production related materials
  • Maintain an orderly and organized warehouse
  • Separate materials and remove undesirables.

Sealed bids will be received until 2:00 pm local time on November 10th, 2021, at Spencer County Judge Executive office located at 12 W Main, Taylorsville KY, Attention: Brittany Veto, Deputy Judge Executive.  The bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at the same location at approx 2:15 pm local time November 10th, 2021, then submitted for review and consideration to the Spencer County Fiscal Court at their November 15th, 2021, meeting at 7:00pm.  Bidder shall send or drop-off the sealed bid at this location prior to the designated time for receipt of bids. NO BIDS RECEIVED AFTER THIS TIME WILL BE CONSIDERED.  The Spencer County Fiscal Court cannot assume the responsibility for any delay because of failure of the US Postal Service or other delivery services to deliver bids on time. Road Laborer

Position Summary
Responsible for maintenance, servicing and repairs of roads and other infrastructure assets. This individual will be responsible for maintaining contracted assets (such as roadways, medians, signs, guardrails, fences, bridges, tunnels, vegetation, etc.) per standards in the contract and as directed by supervisor.

  • Please note – in order to support our road maintenance services, this role may be assigned to operations of equipment for winter (if applicable) or summer operations as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Creates safe Maintenance of Traffic control by setup and removal of traffic control devices including cones, message/arrow boards, temporary signage, etc.
Must be comfortable working from heights in bucket trucks, scaffolding, ladders and aerial platforms lifts.
Transports crew and equipment to work sites operating trucks, specialized motor vehicles, and trailers.
Carry out all duties in line with government policies and procedures as amended from time to time.
Maintain and repair county roads and other surfaces including potholes, striping, adding or replacing reflectors, working with concrete and asphalt.
Required to be available and accessible for incident and emergency response.
Carry out any other scheduled maintenance items in order to minimize commuter delays
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Must practice safe work methods to remain accident and injury free.
Ability to recognize hazards inherent in routine and non-routine tasks and make adjustments to avoid loss, injury or accident.
Will be required to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) appropriate to your job.
Ability to cooperate and communicate written or verbally with co-workers and supervisor.
Ability to perform basic math functions (add, subtract, multiply divide, calculate proportions, percentages, measurements).
Ability to understand instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to read, write and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals to comply with contractual requirements
Ability to work flexibly and willingness to work extensively to meet government needs
High level of attention to detail.
Takes ownership of responsibilities
Basic knowledge of the standard methods, materials, tools and equipment used in concrete, asphalt repair, construction and maintenance.
24/7 Operations- Availability to work overtime and occasional call outs are required.
Education and Experience
HS Diploma or GED (Required)
Strong communication skills both verbal and written.
A valid driver license and a good driving record are required to drive a government vehicle.
CDL, DOT certifications, Electrical and Welding Certifications (Highly Desirable)

Work Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is routinely exposed to traffic and outside weather conditions including extreme heat and cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high precarious places; fume or airborne particles. Frequent exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals, frequent exposure to insects and infrequent exposure to reptiles/rodents. The noise level in the work environment usually moderate but on occasion can be more than moderate.

Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to stand; sit; walk on a wide range of surfaces; use hands and fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and talk or hear. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted. Use manual and powered pneumatic, hydraulic, gas, and electric powered tools and equipment. Vision abilities include both close and distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to pass fit test for respirator as required. Ability to work at heights. Ability to work in confined spaces.

Ball Park Lighting- Ray Jewell Phase II


Spencer County Fiscal Court will receive sealed bids from qualified contractors for the furnishing of all labor, materials and the performance of all work required for the construction of a sports lighting system and memorial area in Spencer County, KY. Work to include installation of a sports lighting system for Field 1 and a memorial area at Ray Jewell Memorial Park. To be considered for qualification by Spencer County Fiscal Court, Contractors and Subcontractors must be currently prequalified by KYTC, Metro Louisville, Louisville MSD, or qualification of performance of similar work. This project will require that a bond be posted for the work.
